How We Handle Complaints

Running an editorial site carries an obligation we take seriously: everything we publish about Interactive Brokers should be accurate, current and useful to readers in India, and when it falls short of that standard we want to hear about it directly. If you believe a page on this site has misstated a fact, misrepresented a policy, or described a feature in a way that does not match reality, you are entitled to have that brought to our attention and examined. Complaints about the site itself, meaning the editorial content we produce, are handled by the editors who wrote and maintain the material. They are not passed to the broker, because we have no relationship with the broker that would allow it, and they are not outsourced.

We treat a complaint as a claim about our own work, and we investigate it as such. That means locating the passage in question, checking it against the primary sources we rely on, and deciding whether the text needs correcting, qualifying or leaving as it stands. We do not remove accurate content because someone finds it inconvenient, and we do not keep inaccurate content because removing it would be awkward. If we conclude that we got something wrong, the correction is made on the page itself and noted as a correction rather than quietly edited away.

What we cannot do is act as a complaint channel for the broker. We are not Interactive Brokers, we are not affiliated with it, and we do not hold, open, close or manage accounts on anyone's behalf. A grievance about an account, an order, a fee charged to you, a withdrawal or a service experience belongs with the broker's own support and grievance mechanisms, not with this site. If you send such a matter to us, we will tell you so plainly rather than let you wait for an outcome we cannot deliver.

Response Times You Can Expect

We aim to acknowledge substantive messages within five working days. That acknowledgement confirms receipt and tells you whether the matter will be looked into as an editorial complaint, a correction request or an enquiry we can answer. A full response, meaning a decision and any resulting change to the site, usually follows within fifteen working days of acknowledgement, though a claim that requires us to check several sources or seek clarification from you may take longer. When that happens we say so and give you a revised estimate rather than leave the matter open indefinitely.

Messages that fall outside our scope, such as account problems or requests for financial guidance, are answered briefly and pointed elsewhere where we can identify a sensible route. We do not promise a personalised reply to every message, and we do not run a telephone line or a live chat. Correspondence is handled through the contact form on this site. Response times are targets we work to, not contractual commitments, and we would rather be honest about that than dress them up as guarantees.

What the Editors Answer

The editors answer questions about the content we publish. If you want to know why a particular page describes a fee structure in a certain way, which sources a statement rests on, when a page was last reviewed, or how we decided what to include in a comparison, that is precisely the kind of question we welcome. We will explain our reasoning, point you to the underlying material where we can, and accept it when the explanation does not persuade you.

We do not answer questions that amount to advice. We cannot tell you whether to open an account, whether a product suits your circumstances, how to interpret your tax position, or what to do about a position that has moved against you. We do not provide financial services, accounts, deposits or advice, and we are not a substitute for a qualified professional who knows your situation. Questions of that kind receive a short reply explaining the limit, not an attempt at an answer.

Press, Partnerships, Corrections

Press enquiries about this site, including requests to quote or republish our material, are handled by the editors through the contact form on this site. State your outlet, your deadline and what you need, and keep the request specific; general requests for comment on the broker's news are unlikely to receive a substantive reply, since we comment on our own published work rather than on events we have not reviewed. Partnership enquiries are read, but commercial arrangements do not buy coverage, soften a verdict or remove a criticism, and any proposal that assumes otherwise will be declined.

A factual correction is submitted through the same form. Identify the page, quote the exact sentence you dispute, explain what you believe is wrong, and give the source that supports your position. A request that names the error and supplies evidence is acted on quickly; a general assertion that something is inaccurate, without more, cannot be investigated and will usually be met with a request for specifics. Where a correction is made, we record what changed and when, so that readers can see the site has been amended rather than rewritten. If we decide the original wording was right, we tell you that too, with our reasoning.
